Chandigarh Traffic Police is observing “National Road Safety Month-2025” from 01st January to 31st January 2025
Chandigarh, 5th January 2025: Chandigarh Traffic Police is observing “National Road Safety Month-2025” from 01st January to 31st January 2025 in which different activities would be held to inculcate the culture of road safety amongst the citizens.
As part of the ongoing National Road Safety Month program and with its ongoing efforts to promote road safety, the Chandigarh Traffic Police, under the leadership of Sh. Surendra Singh Yadav, Director General of Police, Sh. Sumer Pratap Singh, SSP/Security & Traffic, and Sh. Lakshay Pandey, DSP/Road Safety & Development, organized a Painting/Slogan Competition bringed together over 100 students/children to promote road safety awareness at Plaza, Sector-17, Chandigarh. The event highlighted responsible driving, adherence to traffic laws, and a shared goal of a safer, accident-free Chandigarh. They showcased their creativity by depicting powerful messages on safe driving and following traffic rules. The competition aimed to engage youth in promoting road safety and instilling a sense of responsibility towards creating a safer environment for all road users. Sh. Ram Gopal, DSP/PCCC, Ms. Gurjeet Kaur, DSP/Central and Dr. Parvesh Sharma, I/C CTP were present to encourage the student/children. The jury members Sh. Ravinder Sharma, Former Professor, Govt. College of Arts, Sector-10, Chandigarh, Sh. Narenderjeet Singh, Sculptor, National & International and Sh. Dalwinder Singh, Print Maker, National & International adjudged about 100 participants. Among the participants Kritika Kaur, Anshika, Komal Kumari, Aarav Vats, Tanmay Mahajan, Dilpreet Kaur, Anshu Kumari, Meera, Ujala Giri, Deepika and Priya were declared winners by the jury. A pledge regarding road safety was administered during the event. The painting competition was well supported by the NGO's, Swayam, Yuva Stambh and Social Worker Free Tution.
The awareness team, led by Dr. Parvesh Sharma, Inspector, I/C, CTP took the efforts to sensitize about 1500 people from general public at Plaza Sector-17, Chandigarh. The team highlighted key provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, and its amendments since 1st September 2019, along with the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989, and Motor Vehicle Driving Regulations, 2017. Participants were informed about the importance of adhering to traffic laws, not only for their own safety but also for the safety of passengers and other road users. The session also aimed to promote a culture of safe driving habits, with the ultimate goal of making Chandigarh a city with zero road fatalities. A Road Safety Exhibition Van also displayed the real life examples on road safety through videos and creatives.
Besides this, A mega health & Awareness camp by Sowing Nobility Foundation in collaboration with Health Department & Chandigarh Police was organized at Plaza, Sector-17, Chandigarh. A nukkad natak, musical event, playzone for kids of participants, mascots for entertainment and session on three criminal laws and Road Safety Awareness were attraction of the campaign. Sh. Nirmal Singh, Director & Founder along with other members of Sowing Nobility Foundation were present. The camp aimed to give life saving tips through the team of Doctors from Fortis Hospital where lives saving tips on health and a pledge on TB free society was administered among the visitors.
Chandigarh Traffic Police urges all citizens to follow traffic regulations diligently to ensure their safety and that of others, contributing to safer roads and a reduction in road traffic fatalities.
