Chandigarh, September 13, 2026: Chandigarh Police have achieved a major breakthrough in their ongoing drive against drug trafficking and illegal narcotics, with the arrest of a 21-year-old man in connection with a case registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The action was carried out as per the directions of Ms. Kanwardeep Kaur, IPS, W/SSP/UT, Chandigarh, under the close guidance of Sh. Vijay Kumar, W/SP/City Chandigarh, and the supervision of Sh. Dheeraj Kumar, SDPO/South-West.
A team from Police Station Maloya, headed by Inspector Baldev Kumar, SHO/PS Maloya, apprehended the accused, identified as Vikram, a resident of EWS Colony, Maloya, Chandigarh.
According to police, on September 13, 2026, ASI Abhishek No. 1922/CHG, along with a police party, apprehended Vikram and recovered 10.30 grams of heroin (chitta) from his possession. The contraband was recovered without a pouch.
Following the recovery, FIR No. 113 dated September 13, 2026, under Section 21 of the NDPS Act, was registered at Police Station Maloya, Chandigarh.
During the course of investigation, Vikram was formally arrested in the case. During interrogation, police stated that the accused disclosed that he had allegedly purchased the heroin from a person known as Sunny @ Kaka, whom he reportedly met frequently at Saharanpur Bus Stand, Uttar Pradesh.
Police said the accused did not know Sunny @ Kaka's actual residential address but claimed that he could assist the police in locating and apprehending him. Further investigation is underway to verify the disclosure and establish the source and supply chain of the recovered narcotics.
