HPSC candidates hand over memorandum to Bhupinder Singh Hooda

Chandigarh : Paper leaks, copy-paste exams, and scams have become synonymous with the recruitments conducted under the BJP government. This was stated by former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda while addressing candidates of the Assistant Professor recruitment conducted by the Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC) at his residence in Delhi today. A delegation of candidates who had appeared for various papers had come to submit a memorandum to Hooda.

On this occasion, Hooda said that grave irregularities have come to light in the Assistant Professor recruitment exam conducted by HPSC. Apart from History, serious discrepancies have also been exposed in subjects like Hindi, Zoology, Chemistry and Physics. Candidates have already submitted detailed written complaints to the commission, demanding the cancellation of these examinations.

The most glaring irregularity was the distribution of unsealed papers to candidates at various centres, raising the possibility of paper leaks due to broken seals. In such a situation, it was imperative for the government to heed the candidates' demands and order a high-level probe. However, the government appears to be evading accountability. This clearly indicates that the government itself is the mastermind behind these widespread malpractices and scams.

The candidates informed Hooda that 24 questions in the History paper were directly copied word-for-word from a paper used in the recruitment of Assistant Professors by the Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission. The HPSC did not even bother to modify the questions, not in language nor in context. Moreover, several questions were lifted verbatim from papers available on the websites of various online coaching institutions, one of which is reportedly related to the Uttarakhand State Eligibility Test. This has led candidates to suspect collusion between HPSC and certain coaching centres. In addition, candidates have raised complaints regarding incorrect answers, discrepancies between Hindi and English options, and numerous printing errors.

In light of these revelations, Bhupinder Singh Hooda has demanded a thorough, impartial, high-level investigation into the entire matter, along with strict action against those found guilty. He asserted that it is the government’s fundamental responsibility to ensure complete transparency and integrity in the recruitment process. However, the BJP has a consistent track record of deliberately engineering such irregularities or leaving deliberate loopholes, resulting in recruitment processes being stalled in courts.

Consequently, the High Court has raised serious questions on almost every recruitment conducted by this government and has even imposed penalties on multiple occasions. The court has gone so far as to direct that the results of all recruitments conducted after 2019 be released afresh, as these were carried out under flawed rules.

Hooda emphasised that the Congress party firmly stands with the youth of the state and will continue to raise the issue of recruitment scams perpetrated by the BJP at every possible forum, from the media to the Assembly and Parliament. He asserted that the Congress will not hesitate to hold up a mirror to the BJP, which has been recklessly playing with the future of the youth under the arrogance of power.
