chandigarh: *Dr. Vinay Keshava Murthy,* Additional Professor in the Department of Dermatology, Venereology and Leprology, PGIMER, Chandigarh, has been selected to receive the *International League of Dermatological Societies (ILDS) Young Dermatologist International Achievement (YDIA) Award 2027.* The award will be conferred during the 26th World Congress of Dermatology (WCD) to be held in Guadalajara, Mexico, in June 2027.
*The YDIA Award is among the highest international honours for emerging leaders in dermatology.* Presented by the ILDS, the global federation of dermatological societies, the award recognizes exceptional contributions to dermatology through research, education, leadership, patient care, and international service.
*Dr Murthy was nominated jointly by the Pigmentary Disorders Society (PDS) and the Indian Association of Dermatologists, Venereologists and Leprologists (IADVL).* With this achievement, *he becomes only the second Indian dermatologist to receive the YDIA Award since its inception in 2007,* underscoring the growing global influence of Indian dermatology.
An internationally recognized academic dermatologist, Dr Murthy has made significant contributions to pigmentary disorders, dermoscopy, dermatologic surgery, and dermatology education.
*This recognition follows another major international honour received by Dr Murthy in 2025, when he was awarded the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (EADV) Best Researcher Award, one of the most prestigious academic distinctions conferred by Europe’s largest dermatology organization.*
The achievement also reflects the academic excellence of the Department of Dermatology, Venereology and Leprology at PGIMER, Chandigarh. *The department has been ranked as the top dermatology department in Asia for three consecutive years and is among the top twenty dermatology institutions worldwide* , reaffirming its position as a global leader in dermatology research, education, and patient care.
