MP Manish Tewari’s ego preventing him from connecting with Chandigarh’s people: Sanjay Tandon

Chandigarh, June 5, 2026: Senior BJP leader Sanjay Tandon  launched a sharp counterattack on Chandigarh MP Manish Tewari, describing him as a highly self-obsessed leader whose inflated sense of self-importance has distanced him from the people and the real issues of Chandigarh.

Responding to the Congress statement that "twenty-four months is more than enough time to accept a democratic verdict and reconcile with electoral defeat," Tandon said the remark reflected nothing but arrogance and an attempt to divert attention from the serious questions raised regarding the MP’s performance over the past two years.

“Manish Tewari’s ever-expanding ego prevents him from coming down to the ground and understanding the genuine concerns and aspirations of Chandigarh residents. Instead of engaging with the issues raised in my two-year report card, he has chosen to hide behind political rhetoric and personal attacks,” Tandon said.

He further remarked that Tewari’s ego was so inflated that he did not even consider it necessary to personally respond to the questions raised before him. “Rather than answering the concerns directly, he deputed a junior-level spokesperson to issue a directionless rebuttal. This itself reflects his attitude towards accountability and public discourse,” Tandon added.

According to Tandon, Tewari appears to be living in what can only be described as a “permanent ego trip,” believing himself to be above local concerns and responsibilities.

“Tewari has little connect with Chandigarh, its people, or their day-to-day problems. He considers the city beneath his stature and prefers spending most of his time in Delhi, projecting himself as a national leader while neglecting the constituency that elected him,” Tandon alleged.

The BJP leader further pointed out that none of the substantive questions raised in the two-year performance review were answered. “The entire exercise was reduced to a diversionary tactic by a weekend MP who appears more interested in political posturing than in addressing the issues affecting Chandigarh,” he said.

Tandon reiterated that the people of Chandigarh deserve answers, accountability, and visible development, not excuses and ego-driven politics. He urged the MP to focus on fulfilling his responsibilities towards the city instead of attempting to deflect legitimate public questions through spokespersons and political rhetoric.
