No property or transaction concealed; complete details of bank accounts, Demat holdings, properties and financial transactions being provided to Vigilance with documentary evidence: Sudhir Sharma

Dharamshala: Former Minister and BJP MLA from Dharamshala Sudhir Sharma, referring to FIR No. 0006/2026 registered by the State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau, Dharamshala, said that a detailed response is being submitted to the notice issued under Section 35 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, and that he is extending full cooperation to the investigation.

Sharma said complete details of all transactions sought by the Vigilance Department are being provided on the basis of available documentary records. He asserted that neither has any property been concealed nor has any financial transaction been hidden.

He questioned how any property could be concealed from the Government when details of a politician’s assets and liabilities declared in election affidavits are publicly accessible.

“When an ordinary citizen can access the election affidavit of a politician and see the details of declared assets, how can the same information be unavailable to the Government or its investigating agencies?” he asked.

Sharma said property registrations, sale deeds and revenue records are already maintained by government departments, while bank accounts, Demat accounts and investment-related records are available with the respective financial institutions.

He said every candidate contesting an election is legally required to disclose details of movable and immovable assets and liabilities through an election affidavit, which becomes part of the public record.

“If it is alleged that I have concealed any property, then identify that specific property and place the corresponding record before the public. Allegations without identifying any actual concealed asset only create a false impression and appear intended to damage my reputation,” Sharma said.

Complete Demat records provided for verification

Sudhir Sharma said the Vigilance Department has sought information relating to shares and investments, and the complete details of his Demat holdings have been made available for verification.

He said the agency has sought extensive records relating to bank accounts, Demat accounts, properties, vehicles, investments, loans and other movable and immovable assets, and the information sought is being provided with supporting documents.

Complete record of ₹74.07 lakh sale of ancestral land

Sharma said that during the relevant period, two portions of ancestral land situated in Baijnath were sold. The combined value of the two transactions was ₹74,07,000.

He said both transactions were duly registered and could easily be verified from official government records.

“There is, therefore, no question of concealing these transactions,” he said.

₹14.50 lakh transaction was not specifically sought, yet disclosed voluntarily

Sudhir Sharma further said that during the same period, another property was sold to Anurag Sharma, a resident of Bir, for ₹14,50,000.

He said that although this particular transaction was not specifically sought in the Vigilance notice, he has voluntarily disclosed it in his response to the investigating agency.

“A transaction which was not even specifically asked about has been disclosed by me voluntarily. This itself demonstrates that there has been no attempt whatsoever to conceal any transaction,” he said.

Sharma said he had absolutely no objection to the ₹14.50 lakh transaction being investigated. On the contrary, every relevant transaction should be examined.

“The only concern is that the same yardstick must be applied to everyone and the investigation should be comprehensive rather than selective,” he said.

He questioned why this registered ₹14.50 lakh transaction had not been specifically sought when such extensive details relating to properties and financial transactions for the relevant period were being examined.

No objection to investigation, objection is to selective investigation

Sudhir Sharma said he was not demanding that the investigation be stopped and would continue to cooperate with every lawful investigation.

However, he said the circumstances raised serious concerns about whether the Vigilance machinery was being used under political pressure from the Chief Minister and the State Government to target political opponents selectively.

“My demand is not to stop the investigation. My demand is simple—let the investigation be fair, independent, fact-based and equal for everyone. Let the official records establish the truth,” he said.

He added that investigative agencies should not become instruments for exerting political pressure on opposition leaders.

Repressive politics cannot silence the voice of the people

Launching a sharp attack on the Congress Government, Sharma alleged that the State Government was pursuing a politics of repression and political vendetta in an attempt to silence the Opposition.

He said the Government was mistaken if it believed that FIRs, notices or investigating agencies could prevent him from raising issues concerning Dharamshala and the people of Himachal Pradesh.

“Such conspiracies cannot stop me from raising the issues of the people. I have raised the voice of Dharamshala and Himachal Pradesh fearlessly in the past, and I will continue to do so. Neither political pressure nor the misuse of investigative machinery can silence me,” Sharma said.

He said the people of Himachal Pradesh were watching the functioning of the Congress Government closely and would, at the appropriate time, show the Government the mirror through democratic means.

Sudhir Sharma reiterated that all financial transactions sought by the Vigilance Department were being supported with documentary records and that he would continue to cooperate with the investigation.

“The truth will not emerge through selective investigation. It will emerge only through a complete, impartial and equal investigation. There is no property to hide and no transaction to conceal. Let the government records speak for themselves,” he concluded.
