AR Rahman Makes Historic Attari Border Debut, Dedicates Musical Tribute to India's Armed Forces

Amritsar, Punjab | June 7, 2026 | Oscar-winning music composer A. R. Rahman delivered a landmark performance at the Attari-Wagah Border on Sunday, becoming the first artist to receive the honour of performing during the iconic border ceremony. The event, titled "Jai Ho – A Tribute to the Bravehearts," was organized as a salute to the personnel of the Border Security Force (BSF) and India's armed forces.

Joining Rahman were singer Mohit Chauhan, filmmaker Imtiaz Ali, actor Vedang Raina, and businesswoman-producer Ananya Birla, among others. The event was linked to the upcoming film Main Vaapas Aaunga, a Partition-era drama featuring music by Rahman.

Speaking on the occasion, Imtiaz Ali said:

"Today, we had the opportunity to come to Attari and welcome AR Rahman to Punjab for the first time; it is our good fortune that such a renowned artist has visited. He performed at the Attari Border—a venue where no other artist had previously received the honour of performing. The film we are making is titled 'Main Vaapas Aaunga', a story centred on the Partition of 1947. We wanted to dedicate the music to the BSF and all of India's armed forces—the Army, Navy, and Air Force—because they hold so much love in their hearts."

The film, set against the backdrop of the 1947 Partition, stars Diljit Dosanjh, Naseeruddin Shah, Sharvari Wagh and Vedang Raina, and is scheduled for theatrical release on June 12.

The tribute concert drew thousands of spectators and concluded with Rahman's iconic patriotic anthem Maa Tujhe Salaam, creating a memorable celebration of music, patriotism, and national unity.
