MC Chandigarh conducts special anti-encroachment drive; 25 vehicles impounded

Chandigarh, December 4:- Acting on the directions of Sh. Himanshu Gupta, Joint Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh, the Enforcement Wing today carried out a strict anti-encroachment drive in Motor Market, Sector 28 and the Burail area.

During the drive in Motor Market Sector 28, mechanics were found repairing vehicles on public roads, causing obstruction and traffic inconvenience. Taking firm action, the team impounded 15 cars and issued challans to the violators on the spot. A similar drive was conducted in Burail, where 10 illegally parked and encroaching vehicles were impounded.

In total, 25 vehicles were impounded during today’s drive.

The Municipal Corporation has reiterated that such enforcement drives will be conducted regularly and strictly to keep public spaces free from encroachments, ensure smooth movement of traffic, and maintain civic order. Citizens and shopkeepers have been urged to refrain from illegal parking and road encroachments, failing which strict action will continue.
