Chandigarh, December 6:- A determined effort to maintain the city’s cleanliness, ensure smooth pedestrian movement, and preserve the beauty of public spaces, the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh carried out a special early morning anti-encroachment drive today across various parks and green belts. The action was initiated to curb recurring unauthorized setups that obstruct pathways and disrupt public convenience during morning hours.
The intensive drive, conducted peacefully from 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM, specifically targeted juice vendors, fruit sellers, coconut rehris, and other temporary encroachments commonly found outside major parks. These unauthorized stalls often lead to congestion, littering, and safety concerns for morning walkers, joggers, and residents.
During the operation, MCC teams ensured strict enforcement of regulations and maintained a smooth, conflict-free process. As part of the drive, 47 challans were issued to violators for illegal encroachments and non-compliance with municipal norms.
While speaking about the drive MC Joint Commissioner Sh. Himanshu Gupta said that similar early morning drives will continue regularly to deter habitual encroachers and safeguard the city’s green spaces. The Corporation reiterated its commitment to keeping Chandigarh clean, organized, and encroachment-free, urging vendors to adhere to designated vending zones and follow municipal guidelines.
