COMPLAINT FILED AGAINST TRIVENI MALHOTRA OF EASTWOOD GROUP FOR ILLEGALLY CUTTING OVER 100 GREEN STANDING TREES ON JALANDHAR CANTT BY PASS ROAD
Jalandhar: In a matter of grave concern, around 100 green standing healthy roadside trees were cut illegally on the night of 28.09.2025 and 29.09.2025. These trees are planted along the roadside on McDonald to Jamsher Road, also known as Jalandhar Cantt Bypass Road, Opposite Haveli Organic Farm.
These trees were planted by the Horticulture Dept of PWD and a major plantation drive in this area was done by Baba Sewa Singh of Khadoor Sahib. All of these were green standing healthy trees. Some of these trees were around 20 - 30 years old and some were around 10 - 15 years old. The trees were a mix of Neem, Moringa, Arjun, Tahli etc.
Allegedly, Mr. Triveni Malhotra of Eastwood Village group owns a plot and he ordered all plants on the outer boundary to be cut on Sunday night of 28.09.2025 and Monday on 29.10.2025. The main trunks and roots were uprooted and transported somewhere. All the branches, leaves and left overs were burnt at the site. More than 100 healthy trees have been cut. This has been verified by the villagers of Kot Kalan, Sofi Pind and Kukkar Pind. The driver and owner of the JCB clearing the area and the security guard present also confirmed that the work has been done on the orders of Mr. Triveni Malhotra.
A protest was organized at the site by environmentalists of the city, who mourned the loss of these trees and demanded strict action against the colonizer and re planting of native saplings at the same spot. A formal complaint has been filed with CM Punjab, DC Jalandhar, DIG Punjab and PWD by Tejasvi Minhas, who is a city based social and environmental activist.
