AAP Government Misusing State Machinery to Influence Punjab Elections: Jai Inder Kaur, Mahila Morcha President

Court Ensures Non-Biased Investigation; Orders CFSL Forensic Examination of Viral Audio

Chandigarh:BJP Punjab Mahila Morcha President Smt. Jai Inder Kaur today strongly condemned the Aam Aadmi Party government for repeatedly misusing state administration and police machinery to interfere with the democratic process in Punjab. She stated that there is now a clear and alarming pattern of the government deploying officials to obstruct the filing of nomination papers by opposition candidates.

Addressing the media, Jai Inder Kaur said that the state government is openly attempting to shield SSP Varun Sharma, whose viral audio clip revealed instructions allegedly directing fellow police officers to prevent opposition candidates from filing their nominations for the Zila Parishad elections. “Instead of ensuring a fair investigation, the government is making every effort to protect the officer involved,” she said.

Advocate Harneet Singh Oberoi, representing the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Mahila Morcha President, filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking urgent judicial intervention into the audio recording. The petition specifically prayed for a non-biased and independent forensic investigation, highlighting the seriousness of the allegations and their impact on free and fair elections.

The Hon’ble Court has since disposed of the PIL and directed that the audio recording be sent to the CFSL for a thorough, impartial forensic examination to verify its authenticity.

Jai Inder Kaur emphasized that this incident is not isolated but part of a broader strategy adopted by the AAP government. “From Municipal Corporation elections to Panchayati elections and now the Zila Parishad nominations, the government has repeatedly used administrative pressure to prevent opposition candidates from contesting. This deliberate misuse of power is a direct attack on Punjab’s democratic fabric,” she stated.

Expressing her faith in the judiciary, she added, “We trust the Hon’ble Court, but the present AAP government has horribly failed to uphold democratic values and ensure a free electoral environment. The people of Punjab are watching, and they will not forgive this repeated assault on their rights.”

Smt. Jai Inder Kaur reaffirmed that the BJP will continue to fight against these unconstitutional actions and will not allow the AAP government to sabotage Punjab’s elections through misuse of state machinery.
