AAP government politicising the police: Sunil Jakhar

Sunil Jakhar– Says sending Patiala SSP on leave proves government misused police in elections

Chandigarh, 10 December: Bharatiya Janata Party’s State President Sunil Jakhar has said that the Aam Aadmi Party is continuously politicising the police. He said this is a threat to democracy and the Bharatiya Janata Party will not allow this to happen.

In a social media post on his X handle, Sunil Jakhar, addressing the Chief Minister, wrote:

“Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann ji, by sending the Patiala SSP on leave before the court hearing, your government has admitted that you intended to misuse the police to steal elections. But the issue is not limited to just this. The politicisation of Punjab’s capable police force is the biggest matter of concern.”

The BJP State President said that after the release of the Patiala SSP’s audio clip, the intentions of the government became crystal clear. He added that even earlier, during the Tarn Taran by-election, everyone had witnessed the misuse of the police. He said this is a very worrying trend, and using the police for political gains by the ruling party is dangerous for democracy.

He told the Chief Minister that if his government has done good work, then why is there a need to rely on the police to steal elections. He said the misuse of the police has always troubled the people of Punjab, and such attempts by the Mann government will only help in throwing the AAP government out of power in the 2027 elections.
