Chandigarh: 08 December 2025: The picturesque Annandale Ground in Shimla hosted the much-awaited Army–Civil Golf Tournament on 06–07 Dec 25, bringing together players from Headquarters ARTRAC and the local golfing community. Played in the traditional matchplay format, the annual event once again lived up to its objective of fostering camaraderie, sportsmanship, and enduring bonhomie between the Army and their civilian counterparts. Over two days of spirited competition and friendly rivalry, the Army Team from HQ ARTRAC emerged victorious with an emphatic overall score of 08–02.
The tournament saw keenly contested matches across all pairings, with both teams displaying exceptional golfing skill, strategic play, and exemplary conduct on the course. The Army Team maintained consistency from the onset, gradually widening their lead through disciplined shot-making and steady nerves under pressure. The Civil Team put up a determined fight, producing several close contests, but ultimately the Army golfers prevailed with dominant performances across the board.
Alongside the team results, individual achievements added further excitement to the event. Mr. Girish Minocha claimed the ‘Straightest Drive’ award with an impressive accuracy of 4.1 metres. Mr. Arjun Lall Sud showcased superb precision to win the ‘Nearest to the Pin’ prize, landing his shot just 1.9 metres from the hole. Demonstrating remarkable power, Mr. Rehmat Singh secured the Longest Drive trophy with a massive strike measuring 319 metres, drawing admiration from players and spectators alike.
The tournament concluded with the award ceremony, with prizes being given by the Patron of Annandale Golf Course, Lt Gen Devendra Sharma, PVSM, AVSM, SM, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Army Training Command, who congratulated the winners and commended all participants for upholding the spirit of the game. The patron highlighted the significance of such events in strengthening the longstanding bonds between the Army and the local community, emphasizing that sports remain a vital bridge of friendship, mutual respect, and cooperation.
The annual Army–Civil Golf Tournament once again reinforced its reputation as a flagship event in Shimla’s sporting calendar, combining competitive golf with fellowship and goodwill. As the players look ahead to next year’s edition, the success of this year’s tournament stands as a testament to the enduring ties between HQ ARTRAC and the local golfing fraternity of Shimla.
