In a post on social media platform X, Pilot raised concerns over the reported involvement of teachers in promoting government schemes, recording beneficiary testimonials and facilitating the presence of MLAs during the event.
He argued that such activities risk diverting attention from the core objective of improving the quality of education and strengthening the relationship between teachers and parents.
“Education must remain above politics, not become a tool for political branding,” Pilot said in his post, tagging the official accounts of the Indian National Congress and Congress Punjab.
Pilot’s remarks have brought the political debate surrounding the state government’s education initiatives into focus, with questions being raised over whether school-related programmes are being prioritised for educational outcomes or political messaging.
The AAP government has promoted Parent-Teacher Meetings as a means of improving communication between parents and teachers and encouraging greater parental participation in students’ education. However, Pilot’s criticism centres on the alleged use of these events for publicity and political promotion.
The allegations reflect Pilot’s position as expressed in his social media post. Independent verification of the claims was not available from the post alone.
