In a post on X, Mallya said, “For all who say I am a bhagoda refusing to come to India, please be aware that I have been a permanent resident of the United Kingdom since 1992 and am currently legally prohibited from leaving this country.”
Mallya further alleged that the situation began with actions taken by the Indian government and claimed that “poster boy actions by the Government of India have been grossly unjust in my case.”
Claims ED released over Rs 350 crore for Kingfisher employees
In a separate post, Mallya urged taxpayers to independently verify claims regarding funds recovered or released by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
“For all you taxpayers, please independently verify and see that the ED released over Rs 350 crores to pay Kingfisher employees from my attached funds,” he wrote.
Mallya added that he “could not pay” the employees because the ED had attached his assets/funds.
The posts come amid Mallya’s continuing public statements about the financial and legal proceedings surrounding the now-defunct Kingfisher Airlines and the recovery of funds by banks and enforcement agencies.
Mallya has repeatedly maintained that the treatment meted out to him has been unfair and has challenged the narrative that he simply fled India to avoid legal proceedings.
