Chandigarh, August 22, 2026: Senior BJP leader Sanjay Tandon said that promoting women entrepreneurship was crucial to strengthening the vision of Viksit Bharat and Atmanirbhar Bharat, as he lauded women-led businesses for their contribution to the country's economic progress.
Tandon was speaking after attending the ‘Desi Cravings Women Entrepreneurship Summit & Expo’ at Himachal Bhawan in Sector 28, Chandigarh, as a Special Guest.
Describing Desi Cravings as a commendable women-led food entrepreneurship initiative under NITI Aayog's Women Entrepreneurship Platform (WEP), Tandon said such initiatives were playing an important role in empowering women entrepreneurs working at the grassroots level.
“Desi Cravings is a commendable initiative that seeks to empower home-based and women food entrepreneurs. The platform aims to help transform their small businesses into sustainable, market-ready enterprises,” Tandon said.
He said women entrepreneurship needed greater encouragement and opportunities, adding that the talent, hard work and entrepreneurial spirit of the country's ‘Matri Shakti’ were vital for India's economic advancement.
“Initiatives that promote women entrepreneurship strengthen our resolve towards Viksit Bharat, Atmanirbhar Bharat and being vocal for local. Providing new opportunities to our women entrepreneurs is not only a step towards their empowerment but is also important for the country's overall economic progress,” he said.
Tandon extended his best wishes to all the women entrepreneurs, organisers and associates connected with the initiative. “The entrepreneurial spirit of ‘Nari Shakti’ is the strength of Atmanirbhar Bharat,” he said.
